Designing Consciously – a Floral Design Workshop

Location: The Studio of Susan Mcleary

Ann Arbor, MI

Become a better and more confident floral designer.  Improve your command of design theory & techniques.

**THIS WORKSHOP IS SOLD OUT**

Immerse yourself in 2 days of design theory and technique with award-winning British florist Joseph Massie in the studio of Passionflower Sue Mcleary.  This floral design workshop is designed to enhance your understanding of theory and strengthen your technical skills. All work will be done without the use of floral foam, and with a focus on using American Grown flowers.

Joe will use a combination of lecture followed by hands-on projects to guide us through design concepts and techniques.  He will teach us how to implement them in our practice in order to bring increased sophistication to commercially relevant work. Day one will cover the Principles and Elements of Design, the Design Scheme, and the Golden Ratio.  Day two is dedicated to techniques, from fundamental to quite advanced. Projects will include both centerpieces and hand-tied bouquets. This floral design workshop will be packed with the skills you need to improve your work and become a better designer!

Joe has won loads of international floral competitions.  He is a solid floral technician with a deep understanding of intellectual design principles.  He also runs a busy studio in Manchester, which means he understands the demands of commercial work and what is needed to produce designs that are on trend and sellable!  This is why Sue & I wanted to bring you this opportunity to study with him. There are not so many designers that can offer this combination. So whether your aspirations are for competitions and the stage, or for commercial application, this is just what you need to take your design work to the next level!

Cost is $1300.  Tuition includes all materials, plus snacks & lunches on Sunday and Monday, and a happy hour reception on Monday afternoon.   It does NOT include tools, lodging, transportation, breakfasts or dinners.

Class will be held at the studio of Susan Mcleary in Ann Arbor, MI

Times are Sunday December 8 & Monday December 9, 9am – 5pm.
