Wedding Venues on South Whidbey Island

Whidbey Island is the perfect place for a destination wedding.  At any time of year, Whidbey is beautiful and has so much to offer.  We have beautiful scenery; lots of activities for your guests (think hiking, biking, kayaking, birding); great food thanks to our very dynamic local food movement and many farms, restaurants and caterers; art galleries & studio tours; local wines, winery & distillery tours, great coffee – Really, what more could you really want?

Since I am a resident of the south end, I will confess my bias toward that area.  There are lots of lovely places in Coupeville and north, but I am going to focus more on my neighborhood for this post.  A few of my preferred venues for weddings and receptions on the south end of the Island are Fireseed Catering and Dancing Fish Farm.  Both offer a very relaxed ambiance and have different but lovely settings.

Dancing Fish is a restored barn venue that is also a winery (their tasting room under construction!).  There is also a guest cottage where the bridal party or important guests can stay.  There are pastoral views of vineyards and grassy hills with horses.

In addition to the barn, there is a sweet loafing shed that is a lovely setting for a small reception or an intimate dinner party.

Fireseed Catering and Event Gardens offer a beautiful garden setting overlooking Miller Lake in the picturesque Maxwelton Valley.  This venue can accommodate parties both large and small, while remaining comfortable and lovely.  Ceremonies can be held on the lawn or in the barn, and the reception space is versatile.  I hear nothing but great things about the food & service.

Other South End Options

If you are looking for something less barn-like and you have a smaller party, consider the Inn at Langley.  They provide an experience you and your guests will never forget.   I am also very excited for the up-and-coming new venues being created by two catering companies: Orchard Kitchen at Cultivar Catering and Roaming Radish (did you know they are moving from their Honeymoon Bay location?).  Stay tuned – I’m sure these spots will be as fantastic as their food is!

Greenbank Farm

Moving northward up the Island is another favorite, Greenbank Farm.  This landmark property offers windswept grassy hills with unsurpassed views, a historic farm, a duck pond and gardens.  Great photo opportunities abound.  The loft of the barn is a great spot for a cocktail reception.
