I was honored to act as wedding florist for Mary Jill and Todd at the beginning of October. Their wedding was beautiful! MJ was a pleasure to work with – organized, easy-going, and stylish. Plus, it’s not hard to pull off a great event at Fireseed Catering on Whidbey Island. Here are some beautiful images to enjoy, thanks to Julie of Julie Harmsen Photography, another very talented and easy to work with person! All the love and relaxation radiated a welcoming grace to their day. MJ was a lovely bride!
The colors for the wedding were chocolate, cream, red and turquoise. The bride has roots in the southwest, and so featured an antique turquoise brooch at her waist. I echoed that with an accent of vintage turquoise beads on the handle of the bridal bouquet, which was composed of creamy Vendela roses, dark-centered red Gerbera Daisy, and Chocolate Cosmos.
For another nod to the southwest, the boutonnieres all included a chili pepper!
You can get the feeling of the day from this image of the outdoor bar at Fireseed Catering. It is beautiful woodsy setting, perfect for a destination wedding.
The bridal couple made their own wooden “vases” from an old fence that had blown down. They were great and really fit the upscale rustic vibe. Centerpieces were all different, and featured all locally & sustainably grown flowers from the Seattle Wholesale Growers Market Cooperative and my own Whidbey Island garden. There was Kharma Chocolate Dahlia, Scabiosa, Lysimachia, autumn foliages, grasses and Lilies. Lots of fun to put together!
