Elegant gold and purple wedding table decor takes barn weddings upscale!

Top wedding trends for 2014 will surely include purple, since Radiant Orchid is Pantone’s color of the year for 2014.  Metallics are still very popular, but this year gold is taking the lead over silver as brides look for warmer tones.  In honor of those trends, I present the tablescape I created together with Whidbey Party Girls! and ABC Special Event Rentals by Cort for the 2013 Weddings on Whidbey and Events Tour. Lovey images, as always, thanks to Stadler Studio Photography.

Barn weddings can be elegant!

A barn wedding or party doesn’t have to be about mason jars. Here at The Historic Crockett Barn in Coupeville on Whidbey Island, our rich gold and purple wedding decor feels right at home.  Along with the orchid pintuck tablecloth, we used silk shantung napkins atop beaded glass plates with gold chargers to create a rich feel.  We included lots of gold and crystal touches in the vases and candles.  Place settings included a hand-gilded apple and a bay leaf.

The centerpiece sits atop a gold-footed vase.  The antique Hydrangea is a good base for the lavender Roses, dark purple Scabiosa and Smokebush, and it goes well with the barn feeling.  I added some gilded Eucalyptus to bring the gold accents into the flowers.

ABC Rental’s Chameleon chairs with the gold seats complete the look.  Here you can see the eggplant-colored crushed satin base tablecloth peeking out.
