Planning & Coordination: The Invisible Hostess
One of the most scenic places in the PNW world is the San Juan Islands, and Roche Harbor is one of their best venues for a wedding. We were thrilled to be the florists for Anna & Neil’s beautiful wedding. The ceremony was in the sunken garden of the Haro Hotel, and the reception was in a big tent with a great view. The feeling the couple wanted for their San Juan Island wedding flowers was natural but elegant.
To bring the feeling of the garden into the wedding reception, we hung Smilax vines from the tent ceiling. Elevated centerpieces on tall sparkling glass vases really brought the elegance – helped by touches like gold chargers and vineyard chairs. When you have a few hard-working pieces, they make enough of a statement that other details can be more simple. For example, the remaining tables just had candles and driftwood, but that did not distract from the overall impression of elegance. We wanted these San Juan Island wedding flowers to provide a feeling of place. Driftwood brings in a beachy feeling, and using Queen Anne’s Lace and Daisies in the floral arrangements helps keep the vibe of luxury on a more down-to-earth level that feels in keeping with the setting of this Roche Harbor wedding.
